World/Inferno Friendship Society

The members of the World/Inferno Friendship Society:

Addicted to Bad Ideas: Peter Lorre’s 20th Century has been described as a “ cabaret punk-rock operetta.” With music and lyrics by the World/Inferno Friendship Society and directed by Jay Scheib, the program features twelve songs covering the life and career of Peter Lorre.

According to the group’s press material, the work was originally inspired by Warner Brothers cartoons and the Leslie Epstein novel Pandemonium (featuring a character called “Peter Lorre”) – and “greatly informed by” the Lorre biography The Lost One: A Life of Peter Lorre by Stephen Youngkin.

Addicted to Bad Ideas will be performed at the following venues:

  • May 27-31, 2009 – Spoleto Festival USA, Charleston, SC, NY; 9 pm.

  • January 9, 2009 – Webster Hall, New York City, NY; 8 pm.

  • September 19-20, 2008 – Alexander Kasser Theater, Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ
